Great Yarmouth & Waveney PTL Event - 5th December 2019

Hosted by Coastal Health and open to all both clinical and non-clinical staff, this event was well attended by over 100 delegates from Great Yarmouth and Waveney, including GPs, Practice Managers, Administrators, Nurses, Paramedics, Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Finance Managers and Physician Associates. Workshops included:

New Roles and New Ways of Working – covering apprenticeships, clinical pharmacists, physician associates, first contact physiotherapists and first contact paramedics, this workshop illustrated how these new roles are being embedded within general practice.

Leading Through Change - understanding system leadership, clinical leaders and management change. Delegates were presented with tools and techniques to support their personal development and provided with resources to influence patient, team and system changes.

Practice Nurse 10 Point Plan – covering the ACP pathway, Fundamental programmes, the STP Education Lead Nurse Role and Career Pathways for HCAs.  A lively and interactive workshop that explored the GPN10 point plan in depth.

Coaching and Mentoring Skills – aimed at GPs, this workshop provided delegates with tools and techniques for personal development, patient health coaching, team development and support.

Changes to DNAR Forms - introduction of the RePECT form, due to be implemented in March 2020.  Delegates discussed training and engagement support around this and how we adopt a local approach to advanced care planning.

Schwartz Round 'A Patient I Will Never Forget' – within a confidential and supportive environment, panellists shared their personal experience of a patient they will never forget, then, led by trained facilitators, the group reflected on related experiences, sharing the emotional and social aspects of working in healthcare.
